DESCRIPTION: Up to 20mm. A parasitic wasp with a yellow and black head, black thorax and a long orange and black abdomen tipped in yellow with black spotting. The front two pairs of legs are primarily orange and yellow with the rear pair possessing darker areas. BEHAVIOUR: The larvae are parasites of the Winter Moth and the larvae being used as a form of pest control. DISTRIBUTION: Found primarily in central to Eastern Britain with the odd record from South Wales. HABITAT: Woods and woodland edges or places with a a high density of trees. PERIOD: Found on the wing during May to June.
